Take a Natural History Hike with an Experienced! Guide
You will enjoy a guided hike of 1.5 hours. Along the way, your naturalist will share natural history landmarks in the gorge, while you learn how the waterfall and creek have changed the landscape over the last 10,000 years. The hike you chose is determined by the dropdown when you book the tour. Read below about the options we have available. Some hikes are not available during certain months due to safety concerns.
Important Information:
- All tours are public and require a minimum of 4 total guests in order to run at the listed price. For parties of 2 guests, this tour is offered for a flat rate of $150 plus 15% gratuity for your guide. Once the minimum number of 4 guests has been reached, adults are $39 per person, and children ages 3-12 are $25 per person.
- If the party is only 3 guests, there will be an additional charge of $15 per person.
- Weather Alert: This tour will move forward if the weather is overcast or lightly raining. Ponchos and umbrellas will be provided. We will cancel the tour if weather conditions become unsafe, such as torrential rains, thunderstorms, or in the event of flood or ice warnings.

Take a Natural History Hike through Taughannock Falls
Taughannock Falls is the most photographed waterfall in Ithaca, NY. At 215 feet tall, it surpasses Niagara Falls in height. Join us on a 1.5-mile guided round trip hike along Taughannock Creek to the base of the falls. Along the way, your naturalist will share natural history landmarks in the gorge, while you learn how the waterfall and creek have changed the landscape over the last 10,000 years. This hike is completely flat and suitable for all ages. Pets are welcome on a leash.
Meet your guide at the entrance to Taughannock Falls State Park. The entrance is off Route 89, Trumansburg, NY. The parking lot is on the opposite side of the street from Taughannock Point on Cayuga Lake. Please Note: Transportation to and from the departure location is not provided. There is a $9 per vehicle park entrance fee seasonally.

Take a Natural History Hike through Enfield Gorge
Enfield Gorge is a 1-mile loop hike through a spectacular gorge filled with flagstone stairs, bridges and of course, beautiful waterfalls. The path we follow is paved with flagstones and all the changes in altitude are steep flagstone staircases. This gorge, which many feel is as beautiful as any on the continent, affords us the opportunity to point out many examples of evidence of geologic history. This tour is appropriate for children 6 years or older and is moderately strenuous.
Meet your guide at the upper entrance parking lot at Robert Treman State Park. Follow Rt 327 (Enfield Falls Rd.) to Upper Park Rd. Meet near the old Grist Mill. Please note: transportation to and from the departure location is not provided. There is a $9 per vehicle park entrance fee seasonally.

Take a Natural History Hike through Cascadilla Gorge
Breathtaking Cascadilla Gorge connects downtown Ithaca with the Cornell University campus. Join us on a 1.75 mile round trip hike through the charming stone paths and stairs of the gorge to arrive in the heart of bustling “Collegetown.” On the way back down, we’ll explore part of the Cornell University campus and pass through a creekside neighborhood that overlooks the gorge. This hike is somewhat strenuous with stairs and steep paths, but the group will take a leisurely pace. It’s suitable for ages 8 and up.
Meet your guide at the Treman Triangle Park in downtown Ithaca, near the intersection of Court and Linn Streets. Please Note: Transportation to and from the departure location is not provided. Be sure to leave ample time to find parking. There is limited, nearby street parking, some of which requires payment during weekdays between 9am and 6pm (pay attention to locally posted signs.)
